17/11/2009 A Farewell to Alan
LAFC (Youth Section) is mourning the loss of Alan Sawyer, Club Chairman for the 2007/08 season, who lost his battle against cancer on 9 October. Alan’s involvement with youth football was well known in the area, running a team at Headley for four seasons between 2005 and 2008. At Liss Athletic he managed a team for four years right up to under 17 in the North East Hants Youth League, with several of the team going on to play for the club at senior level. Although Alan’s Chairmanship of LAFC (Youth Section) was brief, his hard work and commitment left a great legacy, growing the Club to 250 playing members – an all time high for us. We will remember Alan as someone who was passionate about everything he did – a reliable and committed man who will be sadly missed by us all.
